Minutes from the February 25, 2012 Meeting

The first meeting of the steering committee of a new organization:  The Big Bottom Self Reliant Community (BBSRC) was called to order at 2:00 p.m. on February 25th in the  Randle Library.   Copies of a proposed letter to the community were discussed and edited.
One purpose of this new group would be to compile a list of people with skills or products to buy, sell, trade or barter;  also perhaps to investigate the possibility of using an alternative currency in the event  a deteriorating economic picture warrants this.  Another purpose would be to enable  people in the area to get in touch with each other,  and create a community feeling of helpfulness and assistance by pooling talents and experiences and  sharing ideas for self reliance.
Since one of the members is quite proficient in setting up and maintaining web/blog  pages, it was decided to use the web to get in touch and to keep in touch rather than a letter.
Some of  links on the blog would be:    Gardening tips,  emergency preparedness,
history of our area, raising animals, pictures,  for sale or barter, and much more.
It was suggested that speakers or guest writers could be invited  now and then  to inform and entertain.
Time and location of future meetings  will be posted on this blog
The public is always invited to attend meetings  and encouraged to participate.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:00.
Respectfully Submitted
Acting Secretary of BBSRC
